Fitch Recycling Vehicle Graphics

Fitch have recently come to me to sort out their vehicle graphics from design through print to application. They have gone for small, simple vinyls to show only essential information. I have got in touch with Shires Art for printing and fitment to the vehicle and sent the digital format for them to work from. Above is how this will roughly appear on the vans.

Green Screen Filming

As part of our animation work we decided to do some green screen filming which became a lot harder to do than we had originally planned. The normal room we would have done it in was booked up for 2 months for an exhibition so we had to take the green screen out along with all the equipment , cameras and lights and we set ourselves up in a tiny room we booked within the college. The only wall we could use was where the door was so we had to make sure we didn't forget anything before we hung the screen. We played some music and did the filming in the immense heat due to the lights and not being able to open any windows. It took a lot of time to get all the shots and film we wanted but we got there in the end and were pleased with the results.

Animation Video

This is a small clip from myself and James Clancy's Ministry of Sound Video that we designed and made a few weeks ago. The 2 posters accompany the launch of this TV show. The full video can be viewed on YouTube.

Berghaus Development

This is a development of the typographic idea I have had for 1 of my competition briefs. I have used the idea of the words being placed in a certain way to say what they are trying to promote. I will be developing this idea further.

SchoolMail Logo

I designed this logo for a new web mailing system for schools. All schools have to have an e-mail address for each pupil. This system achieves this as well as keeping a diary, planner and moodle. The system is going around the UK into a number of schools who didn't have this technology before.

Werneth School Council Book Cover

I designed this book cover for Werneth School's Council. They were pitching their ideas to having the best school council and won a competition. The result being the creation of this book which features tips and advice on how to create a brilliant school council.

I designed these typographic bookspreads last year. We could only use the font Sabon and the colours black and white. It was a good challenge but I was pleased with my results.

Furniture Museum Poster

This is my design for a poster advertising a Furniture Exhibition at the Design Museum. As you can see i opted to keep it simple and use striking colours to catch attention.

Channel 4 Ident

Had just finished watching Vanilla Sky on Channel 4 and saw 1 of their famous idents. I've always wondered how they do these as they are amazing so i looked them up and found these other designs.

Our group decided on creating a Great British Blood Drive for our project. We decided the bottom logo works well as the them is about being low on blood. These are 2 examples of ambient media which again follows this theme. We have worked on a whole campaign and are presenting our pitch this week.

E-mail replies

Sometimes agencies cannot help with your enquiries and requests for work experience for whatever reason but here a few e-mails I had back off people who were kind enough to reply anyway.

NE-Design

NE-Design is my own business which I run alongside my studies. I started up in 2007 because I was getting asked to do bits of design work here and there. I made this more official by creating my own branding and website. I teamed up with the web solutions company DreamCreators so we can offer web hosting, coding and websites aswell as branding, identity, graphic design and advertising. I also had to make a choice of which printers I would use. I have used Printing in Stockport and Manchester Colour Lab which have both been sufficient.

I ordered business cards and had them distributed and put up in certain areas and local businesses. I am also on a number of search engine websites to get more customers. The only downside being I get a lot of calls from people trying to sell advertising space. I work from home in any spare time I have and have worked on quite a few projects which have been diverse but great to work on. At the moment we are working on branding and a website for GoldEx Syndicate Ltd. I have also got another job coming in for designs on Eco-Friendly items for Crown Paints. This will include a design for an advertising board and promotional items in a national show so it is something I am looking forward to.

When I get chance I am going to completely re-design my website as it was done as soon as I left college and looks dated and I have a lot of new work to put in and a lot of work to take out.

Aint Life Grand

I usually have no interest in illustration but I find that this work is very close to graphic design in its output and it inspires me. I love the block colours and simple images. I am not sure about the way the site is laid out though because it shows no information.

O2 Advertising

This is one of the cleverest pieces of advertising I've seen in a long time. I have always been a fan of the O2 style and branding. They obviously spend a lot of money and focus on advertising. There is also a competition brief for o2 on YCN online at the moment which I am looking at taking part in.

Sankeys Logos

I have put these images in as it shows the way Sankeys adapt their logo. I like this adaptabilty and will look at using it in future work. Sankeys is also 1 of the best clubs in Europe and they have a very strong image to support this.

Truth Visit

I was scheduled to be going to visit Truth at their office on the 13th Feb but we have since had to re-arrange as they were out of office and I will be going to see them in the near future.

Hemisphere Design Contact

I contacted Hemisphere design a while ago for some advice and possibly getting a placement. Unfortunately it was not possible to do a placement there however I received some good advice from the managing director which will help me in the future.

Club Flyers

These are a couple of club flyers. I find the designs interesting and inspiring as they are like nothing else out there and have a certain style and presence. They use hierarchy to good effect as flyers like these need to include lots of information.

JWT

This is the website for JWT London. It is a very different style of site and some of the work is amazing and something I'd love to be involved in.

Area 17

The name Area 17 refers to the optical cortex of the brain where vision is processed. This is how the company wants to portray itself as a vision for new things. They are based in New York and Paris and have lots of big clients. Area 17 produce some great work which I can gain a lot of inspiration from.

Point Well Made

This is my friend Paul's blog. I met Paul at Cube 3 and he does a lot of work for himself aswell as for Cube. I gained a lot of good advice from Paul about graduating and the best things to work on in the future.
